More than a Personal Stylist
Feeling like the problem lies with you every time an outfit doesn't work out? I've been there too, and I was tired of wasteful wardrobe clear-outs and guilty shopping sprees. Remember, it's not just you; it's a fast-fashion cycle many of us are caught in, but there's a way out. As an anti-fashion stylist, my focus isn't on judgment or pushing you to discard your favourites. It's about embracing authenticity over fleeting trends.
Dealing with mental illness taught me the powerful connection between attire and mental well-being. On days when dressing up felt overwhelming, I realised its transformative potential. This experience fuels my empathetic approach at Mind Your Wardrobe. Here, it's about offering a compassionate and understanding presence to support you through a style transformation that nurtures both your external appearance and internal well-being.
Familiar with the Fashion Frustration? So Was I
Behind the Seams of Mind Your Wardrobe
Early on, my wardrobe was my playground, exploring styles and dreaming up outfits. Fashion was my first love, but it wasn’t until I won a European modelling contract during a charity event that I saw the industry from the inside. Confronted with unattainable beauty standards and the manipulation of images to sell an illusion, I chose to step away. But not before I worked as a Fashion Stylist and Creative Director for Core Magazine. When I returned to Australia, I became a Crane Operator in heavy industry, transitioning from high fashion to high vis (talk about a wardrobe overhaul!). But the steel cap boots didn’t satisfy my fashion craving, so I created a fashion blog giving style advice.
Later, during my nationally recognised tertiary education in Fashion Business, the full picture of the industry's flaws became apparent. I saw the exploitation of workers, the disregard for our planet, and the manipulative marketing tactics that fuel overconsumption. Faced with these realities, it was time to craft a solution that combined my passion for style with a commitment to positive change. And Mind Your Wardrobe was born, a place where personal style is a gateway to individual empowerment and collective responsibility.
